28 Years Later Photogrammetry

Scanning Redmire, North Yorks

Recently, Tri-Tech Surveys had the unique opportunity to contribute to Danny Boyle’s highly anticipated zombie movie, “28 Years Later,” by conducting advanced LiDAR and photogrammetry surveys. While we are accustomed to working with a diverse range of clients and projects, this collaboration has introduced an exciting new dimension to our portfolio.

We were initially commissioned to survey a field in Redmire, North Yorkshire. The objective was to provide the pre-production crew with precise data to create a detailed 50:1 scale model of the site. This scale model was essential for producing an accurate mockup of the set before its full-scale installation. The results have been spectacular! Take a look at the ‘bone temple’ installation.

...and the Cheddar Gorge

The success of our initial survey at Redmire led the filming team to request our services once more, this time to capture the awe-inspiring views at Cheddar Gorge. Using our X7 Laser Scanner, we scanned the gorge to help generate another scale model, aiding the filmmakers in planning and visualising their scenes.

This project has not only showcased our technical capabilities but has also highlighted the versatility and scope of our services.

It’s worth noting that a few of our surveyors might even make cameo appearances in the movie, perfectly fitting the zombie theme: no makeup needed!

We look forward to seeing our work come to life on the big screen and are excited about the possibilities this opens up for future endeavours in the film industry.
